How to Use Periglow

A single Periglow herbal compress.

relax        enjoy      revive

It is suggested that the compress be applied as part of a warm herbal bath.  This is simply made with the "tea" resulting from preparing the Periglow compress.

Relaxing in the herb-infused waters, the hot compress is applied directly to the perineum with gentle pressure.  For those for whom bathing is not advised, Periglow can still be used beneficially as a compress alone.

How Do I Prepare the Periglow Herbal Compress?

Preparing the Periglow compress for use is easy.

First, bring 5 cups (1.25 l) of fresh water to a boil.  Add one herb compress bag, reduce heat, and allow to simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.

Next, prepare a comfortably warm bath for yourself.  When the Periglow is done simmering, pour the whole pot into the bath-- the herbal infusion (tea) together with the hot compress.  Ease yourself into the bath.

When the compress has cooled enough to be tolerable, gently hold the compress between your legs.  Use caution as the interior of the bag may be very hot.

Relax and slowly focus gental pressure with the compress against your perineum and allow the warmth of the herbs to support the healing of soreness, swelling, tearing, and any stitches you may have received in giving birth.
